Wildlife Pond, Private Client, Suffolk
The Brief
To design and construct a pond that will fit into the existing landscape.
The Challenge:
To create a natural looking pond which would attract wildlife within the confines of a very formal garden setting. Strong straight lines were embraced on three sides of the pond to mirror the formal hedge lines and pathways that existed within the garden. However, the fourth side, although contained by a newly planted hedge, has been left covered in varying size of cobbles to gradually slope into the pond which will hopefully encourage wildlife to enter and use the pond as their natural habitat.
Planting has been left quite natural in shape allowing it to grow with new areas for wildlife to hide. A seating area has been created at the nearest end to the buildings in order to cause the least amount of disturbance whilst quietly enjoying the new pond.
